Radiance Hobart Counselling
can help you beat Depression. Get your happiness back and recover. Move forward into a better life and find joy again.

Some people feel constantly sad and downhearted. No matter what happens, they just can’t cheer up or feel positive about anything. Even when they want to feel happy, they can’t. This condition is commonly called Depression.

Depression

Depression is a name given to feeling sad, let down, ‘blue’, disappointed or downhearted. The bad feelings linger and won’t go away. They’re there a lot of the time, even when we don’t know why. Depression affects about one person in five at some time in their life.

Depression caused by chemical imbalance is a physical, not a mental illness. Counselling can still help you to get better, even if you are taking medication.

Most depression is sadness at unfortunate and distressing life events. It is something that everyone experiences at some time. It doesn’t mean you have a mental illness. Talk instead about intense sadness and low feelings rather than that you’ve ‘got something’ called ‘depression.’ It makes it much easier to face and deal with. You just need help to manage your feelings and time to recover.

Causes of intense sadness or low spirits include:

  • Serious illness
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • The death of someone close
  • Too much stress in a short time
  • Over-sensitive personality types
  • Overwhelming losses difficult to get over

We have a number of ways to help you manage sadness and low feelings. We help you to discuss and understand where they are coming from and what you can do about them.

Mindfulness therapy (MiCBT) gives you additional skills to take charge of and change your negative feelings into positive ones. You learn how to stop them before they take you over. Before you know it, you feel better and happier.
